People who live, work, and visit the city are vital to helping the Toward Home Alliance engage with the most vulnerable people sleeping rough in the inner city and surrounding parklands.
Toward Home Resolve uses the Street Connect tool to identify places where people are sleeping rough, including places that may be overlooked in street outreach, due to being less visible or only used at certain times in the day.
Street Connect is a website where anybody can ‘drop a pin’ on a map where they have seen somebody sleeping rough, and Resolve will use this information to engage with the person identified.
The Street Connect tool was developed by the SA Housing Authority to support inner city outreach through the use of technology, better connecting people needing support with specialist homelessness services.
While Street Connect is a useful tool for connecting people to support, if a person sleeping rough appears distressed, frail, or if there are children, it is preferable to contact Toward Home ACCESS direct on 1800 809 273 (9am – 5pm Monday to Friday), or Homeless Connect SA outside those times on 1800 003 308. If the person is in immediate danger or if there is otherwise an emergency, please contact 000.
If somebody is sleeping rough outside the Adelaide inner city, they can still be linked to support by calling Toward Home ACCESS if they are sleeping rough within the Toward Home geographic area, which you will find here.
Outside the Toward Home Alliance geographical service areas, Homeless Connect SA can provide advice and support.
