People experiencing homelessness in the Adelaide CBD, inner and outer southern metro area and Adelaide Hills will benefit through a new partnership between the Toward Home Alliance and Good360.
Good360 is a not-for-profit organisation that acts as a matchmaker, helping repurpose things of value by directing them to the Australians who need them most.
The Toward Home Alliance is delighted to announce the new partnership which is already resulting in the distribution of donated goods to positively impact people experiencing homelessness.
The donated goods include:
• A total of 9,600 (12 pallets) of N95-style face masks, valued at $72,000
• Over $35,000 worth of high quality shampoo, conditioner, body wash and moisturiser
• 10 new mattresses with a total value of about $7,000, which will be utilised at Baptist Care SA’s WestCare Centre
• Pallets of 50ml bottles of hand sanitiser for Toward Home outreach staff to distribute to people experiencing homelessness and rough sleeping.
As part of the partnership, 12 months of free, secure storage at Storage King in Woodville North – valued at $3,000 – will also be provided to the Alliance to store donated goods, with Storage King staff available to assist with transporting items with a forklift as required at no charge.
Additionally, Good360 has successfully negotiated Toward Home’s participation in a pilot program with Optus, where 20 SIM cards will be made available for caseworkers to provide to clients. The users will have unlimited calls and text messages and 10 gigabytes per month in free data.
All the material goods being donated will be distributed meaningfully by the Toward Home Alliance for the benefit of vulnerable people, either directly to clients via Toward Home Alliance partner organisations, or by sharing with other local agencies the Toward Home Alliance works alongside in the homelessness sector.
“This new partnership between Toward Home and Good360 is yet another example of likeminded organisations joining together to tackle the issue of homelessness in our state,” says Lutheran Care Chief Executive Officer Rohan Feegrade.
“There is good mission alignment between our organisations and we are very excited about the benefits this partnership will bring for people experiencing homelessness.”
SA Partnerships Manager for Good360, Kate Stock, says: “Good360 are proud to be partnering with the Toward Home Alliance. Working with the Alliance provides a streamlined way for Good360 to direct large volumes of material aid into the homelessness sector in SA. The structure of the Alliance gives me confidence that the right goods will be distributed to the right people when they are needed most, providing hope and dignity.”
